Watch:Discover the incredible beauty of the Caribbeans through these carefully selected movies. 

Pirates of the Caribbean( 2003): Rated PG13, Action Adventure, Fantasy. Filmed in Various locations of the Caribbean islands and Bahamas.  Dive into the adventurous spirit of the Caribbean seas with Blacksmith Will Turner and Captain Jack Sparrow as they work to save his love from Jack’s former pirate allies who are undead. 

How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998): Comedy, Drama, Romance. Filmed in Jamaica. Stella is a highly successful, San Francisco stock broker who is persuaded by her colorful New York girlfriend Delilah to take a well-deserved, first-class vacation to Jamaica. This film offers a heartwarming tale of love, self-discovery, and the rejuvenating power of a Caribbean escape.

Cool Runnings (1993): Rated PG, Adventure, Comedy, Family. Filmed in Orcho Rios and St. Ann, Jamaica. When a Jamaican sprinter is disqualified from the Olympic Games, he enlists the help of a dishonored coach to start the first Jamaican Bobsled Team. This film is filled with humor, determination, and the vibrant spirit of Jamaica.

Taste: Jamaican Jerk Chicken - Spice up your mealtime with this flavorful, iconic dish and for dessert grab yourself some rum cake. These dishes captures the essence of the Caribbean.

German Apple Strudel

Watch: Uncover a film worth watching can be quite the task with many centered on ww2. While ideal for history buffs, they might not spark your wanderlust. Let these movies ignite a fire within you!

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014): Rated R, Adventure, Comedy, Crime. Filmed in Görlitz, Germany.  A writer encounters the owner of an aging high-class hotel, who tells him of his early years serving as a lobby boy in the hotel's glorious years under an exceptional concierge.

  A Hieldelburg Holiday (2023): Rated G, Comedy, Drama, Romace. The filming Location was in Heidelberg, Germany.  This is a Hallmark movie where a woman heads to the Heidelberg Christmas market to sell her hand-painted ornaments. While there she falls for a local artisan who helps her reconnect with her lost heritage.

A Most Wanted Man (2014): Rated R, Crime, Thriller, Drama. Various Locations in Germany.  A novel adaptation, this time it’s a modern-day John le Carré thriller. It’s something a little bit different from most of the other films. This movie is about a political refugee who arrives in Hamburg illegally and what follows is a game of cat and mouse between terrorists and the German Government.

Taste: Cook a traditional schnitzel for dinner Schnitzel and then have some Apple Strudel for dessert!

 Smell:  Our German Apple Strudel Scent - Fill your home with the sweet aroma of apples,cinnamon and a hint of pastries. 

Venetian Peach Bellini

Watch: Italy is know for being romantic and therfore the film industry is dominated by romantic comedies but I stumbled upon an the action flick, The Tourist.  While the plot did not blow me away, it did boast a stunning backdrop! 

The Tourist (2010) Rated R Thriller, Action Filmed in Paris and Venice. Beautiful cinematography that allows you revel in the allure and mystery of Venice, with its stunning landscapes and intriguing canals. During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, math teacher Frank finds himself in an extraordinary situation.

Letters to Juliet (2010) - Rated PG Filmed in Various locations in Italy. Romantic Comedy.  Set in Verona and the beautiful Italian countryside, it explores the story of a young American woman who embarks on a quest to reunite lovers separated by decades after discovering a “Letter to Juliet.” It’s a light-hearted, enchanting film that captures the hope, beauty, and romanticism of Italy, making it a sweet accompaniment to any Italian-inspired scented journey.

Under The Tuscan Sun (2003) Rated PG13 Comedy, Drama, Romance. Filmed in Various locations in Italy.  Frances Mayes, a 35-year-old San Francisco writer, gets a divorce that leaves her with terminal writer's block and depression. Later, she decides to buy a house in Tuscany to change her life

 Listen: Italian opera classics - Let the powerful performances of Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli  and Maria Callas serenade you in true Venetian style. If you are looking for a more modern vibe check out the group II Volvo they are an Italian pop trio. 

Taste: Make a Peach Bellini - Blend peach purée and Prosecco for a refreshing taste of Venice.  For a quick appetizer try a Caprese Salad: Slices of ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. It’s effortless to prepare and offers a taste of Italian freshness.

Smell:  Venetian Peach Bellini - A sweet, invigorating scent that echoes the charm of Venice's most famous drink! 

Night on the Nile

Watch: I picked these movies for their take on Egyptian mythology and setting, going from mythological epics to classic tales of adventure and mystery. 

Gods of Egypt (2016): Rated PG13 Fantasy, action and drama. Gods of Egypt  is a fantasy action film that dives into ancient Egyptian mythology. The story centers on the mortal hero Bek, who teams up with the god Horus in a conflict against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne.

The Mummy (1999)-Rated PG13 Action, adventure and fantasy. The Mummy is a 1920s adventure film following librarian Evelyn Carnahan, her brother Jonathan, and adventurer Rick O’Connell. They awaken Imhotep, a cursed priest seeking to resurrect his love and unleash a curse. The trio faces obstacles to stop him and save mankind.

Death on the Nile (2022): Rated PG-13 Crime, Drama and Mystery. Inspired by Agatha Christie's 1937 novel, 'Death on the Nile' takes us on a thrilling journey with Detective Hercule Poirot as he navigates through a boat full of suspicious characters on the majestic Nile River.

I was tyring to keep it three movies each... I can’t help but give an honorable mention to 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' This iconic adventure film, featuring the daring Indiana Jones, takes you on a thrilling chase for the mystical Ark of the Covenant, with unforgettable scenes set against the dramatic desert backdrop of 1930s Egypt. It’s a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a good treasure hunt mixed with a dash of historical intrigue!

Taste:  Delight in these Egyptian-inspired dishes. Hummus- a creamy spread made from chickpeas, tahini, and garlic.  Baba Ganhoush- a smokey eggplant dip, both of these a perfect for spreading on nann bread. Koshari- a popular Egyptian street food dish that's a hearty blend of rice, lentils, and pasta, topped with a spicy tomato sauce.   

Smell: Night on the Nile  - Immerse yourself in the mystique of Egypt  with this scent, let the aroma of jasmine, exotic spices, and amber envelop your space.

Irish Countryside

Watch: In curating this list, I aimed to showcase Ireland’s enchanting landscapes and richness through films that offer a magical escape. Each movie highlights Ireland’s romantic and mystical sides, serving as a perfect gateway to the country’s vibrant heart and soul. Get ready to explore Ireland’s beauty and spirit, all from the comfort of your couch.

P.S. I Love You (2007) Rated Pg-13 Comedy, Drama and Romance. Filmed in New York City and County Wicklow, Ireland.  In this movie, you can wander through Ireland’s breathtaking landscapes and charming villages. The film follows Holly Kennedy, who is left devastated after her husband Gerry dies from an illness. Mysteriously, she begins receiving letters written by him, designed to ease her grief and encourage her to move forward into a new life.

Leap Year (2010): Rated PG Romatic comedy. Filmed in County Wicklow and Dublin.  Set against the lush, rolling landscapes of Ireland, Leap Year is a romantic comedy that follows Anna as she plans to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day—an Irish tradition which purportedly brings good luck. The journey takes her across the country, from the cobblestone streets of Dublin to the rustic beauty of the Irish countryside. It’s not just Anna’s heart that’s taken on a journey—viewers are treated to sweeping vistas of cliffs, green fields, and quaint villages that will have you longing for your own Irish adventure. The movie might be a little cheesy but the scenery is gorgeous!

The Quiet Man (1952) Comedy, Drama, Romance Filmed in various Ireland Locations. I have not seen this move but In researching for movies this came up time and time again. It’s a bit of an older movie but given the rave reviews it might be worth watching. Starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, this classic film tells the story of an American boxer who returns to his ancestral home in Ireland, where he finds love and conflict with the local customs. -Let me know if you watch it and what you think.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) Rated Pg. Fantasy/Adventure. Filmed various locations in Ireland, Scotland and the UK.
Okay I know what you’re going to say and bear with me…No list of scenic films would be complete without a nod to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. While Hogwarts might not be your thing, the stunning cliffs and rolling hills of Ireland that appear throughout the film bring magic to life.  *For those who didn’t know, some of those breathtaking backdrops are indeed the rugged coasts of Ireland—proving that sometimes, reality really can be just as enchanting as fantasy. I wouldn’t be much of a Harry Potter fan if I didn’t give a special shoutout to this movie especially because you get to enjoy some amazing scenery that’s filmed in Ireland! 

Listen: Irish folk music - From the lively tunes of The Dubliners to the soulful ballads of Enya, to the punk rock music of Dropkick Murphys let the music transport you to the Emerald Isles.

Taste: Irish Soda Bread - Bake this simple, hearty bread as a nod to Ireland’s rustic culinary traditions. On a cold night, you can make some Irish stew with lamb or beef, along with potatoes, onions, and carrots. It's all simmered in a simple broth. Don't forget to grab yourself a pint of Guiness! 

Smell: Our Irish Countryside scent - Infuse your space with the lively aroma of pine, grass, and the earthy vibes from Ireland’s countryside.
