A Hieldelburg Holiday (2023): Rated G, Comedy, Drama, Romace. The filming Location was in Heidelberg, Germany. This is a Hallmark movie where a woman heads to the Heidelberg Christmas market to sell her hand-painted ornaments. While there she falls for a local artisan who helps her reconnect with her lost heritage.
A Most Wanted Man (2014): Rated R, Crime, Thriller, Drama. Various Locations in Germany. A novel adaptation, this time it’s a modern-day John le Carré thriller. It’s something a little bit different from most of the other films. This movie is about a political refugee who arrives in Hamburg illegally and what follows is a game of cat and mouse between terrorists and the German Government.

Watch: Italy is know for being romantic and therfore the film industry is dominated by romantic comedies but I stumbled upon an the action flick, The Tourist. While the plot did not blow me away, it did boast a stunning backdrop!
The Tourist (2010) Rated R Thriller, Action Filmed in Paris and Venice. Beautiful cinematography that allows you revel in the allure and mystery of Venice, with its stunning landscapes and intriguing canals. During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, math teacher Frank finds himself in an extraordinary situation.
Letters to Juliet (2010) - Rated PG Filmed in Various locations in Italy. Romantic Comedy. Set in Verona and the beautiful Italian countryside, it explores the story of a young American woman who embarks on a quest to reunite lovers separated by decades after discovering a “Letter to Juliet.” It’s a light-hearted, enchanting film that captures the hope, beauty, and romanticism of Italy, making it a sweet accompaniment to any Italian-inspired scented journey.
Under The Tuscan Sun (2003) Rated PG13 Comedy, Drama, Romance. Filmed in Various locations in Italy. Frances Mayes, a 35-year-old San Francisco writer, gets a divorce that leaves her with terminal writer's block and depression. Later, she decides to buy a house in Tuscany to change her life

Watch: I picked these movies for their take on Egyptian mythology and setting, going from mythological epics to classic tales of adventure and mystery.

The story centers on the mortal hero Bek, who teams up with the god Horus in a conflict against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne.
The Mummy (1999)-Rated PG13 Action, adventure and fantasy. The Mummy is a 1920s adventure film following librarian Evelyn Carnahan, her brother Jonathan, and adventurer Rick O’Connell. They awaken Imhotep, a cursed priest seeking to resurrect his love and unleash a curse. The trio faces obstacles to stop him and save mankind.
Death on the Nile (2022): Rated PG-13 Crime, Drama and Mystery. Inspired by Agatha Christie's 1937 novel, 'Death on the Nile' takes us on a thrilling journey with Detective Hercule Poirot as he navigates through a boat full of suspicious characters on the majestic Nile River.
I was tyring to keep it three movies each... I can’t help but give an honorable mention to 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' This iconic adventure film, featuring the daring Indiana Jones, takes you on a thrilling chase for the mystical Ark of the Covenant, with unforgettable scenes set against the dramatic desert backdrop of 1930s Egypt. It’s a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a good treasure hunt mixed with a dash of historical intrigue!

P.S. I Love You (2007) Rated Pg-13 Comedy, Drama and Romance. Filmed in New York City and County Wicklow, Ireland. In this movie, you can wander through Ireland’s breathtaking landscapes and charming villages. The film follows Holly Kennedy, who is left devastated after her husband Gerry dies from an illness. Mysteriously, she begins receiving letters written by him, designed to ease her grief and encourage her to move forward into a new life.
Leap Year (2010): Rated PG Romatic comedy. Filmed in County Wicklow and Dublin. Set against the lush, rolling landscapes of Ireland, Leap Year is a romantic comedy that follows Anna as she plans to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day—an Irish tradition which purportedly brings good luck. The journey takes her across the country, from the cobblestone streets of Dublin to the rustic beauty of the Irish countryside. It’s not just Anna’s heart that’s taken on a journey—viewers are treated to sweeping vistas of cliffs, green fields, and quaint villages that will have you longing for your own Irish adventure. The movie might be a little cheesy but the scenery is gorgeous!

Okay I know what you’re going to say and bear with me…No list of scenic films would be complete without a nod to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. While Hogwarts might not be your thing, the stunning cliffs and rolling hills of Ireland that appear throughout the film bring magic to life. *For those who didn’t know, some of those breathtaking backdrops are indeed the rugged coasts of Ireland—proving that sometimes, reality really can be just as enchanting as fantasy. I wouldn’t be much of a Harry Potter fan if I didn’t give a special shoutout to this movie especially because you get to enjoy some amazing scenery that’s filmed in Ireland!
